Literature is the language, the means to transport religion, like a finger to indicate
the moonlight of truth. In the temple, we also use means in many ways such as
chanting and prayers in the deep high bass sound with a variety of Dharma
instruments to harmonize and vibrate the hearts of listeners.
Except for a small numbers of Buddhist practitioners who are intensively
specialized in the Dharma theory and practice, attained the great ecstatic in
Dharma samadhi, the rest of the Buddhists are taking steps to practice the Dharma.
They often use the means of poetry and Buddhist music as the spiritual dishes to
relax in the busy life everyday. In other words, Buddhist poems and songs played
the roles as the short quick awakening sermons that do not need to be lengthy but
are highly effective because of the melodious tone of the music.

Chúng ta thường nghe câu: “Văn dĩ tải Đạo”. Văn là ngôn ngữ, là phương tiện để
chuyên chở Đạo, như ngón tay để chỉ ánh trăng chân lý. Trong nhà chùa, chúng ta
cũng dùng phương tiện bằng nhiều cách như: ngâm vịnh, tán tụng, lời kinh, tiếng
kệ với nhiều loại pháp khí để âm thanh hài hòa, rung động lòng người.
Trừ một số ít Phật tử thuần thục chuyên sâu trong các pháp học, pháp hành và có
nguồn Pháp Hỷ thực lớn lao; còn hầu hết là hàng Phật tử đang từng bước trên
đường tu tập, mới biết về Phật Pháp, thì Phật tử thường dùng phương tiện thơ ca và
âm nhạc Phật giáo như là món ăn tinh thần, để thư giãn trong nhịp sống bận rộn
hàng ngày, hoặc thơ nhạc Phật giáo là những bài pháp ngắn cảnh tỉnh nhanh gọn
không cần dài dòng mà lại có năng suất hiệu quả rất cao vì nhờ có giai điệu trầm
bổng của thi nhạc.
