In July, the yellow fall leaves fall
It is the season to welcome Ullambana Season
Make us drop tears
as remembering the great debts from parents.
Whoever are born, must have a father and mother. Every year, at the Ullambana season, we always remember the “Piety” letter – the good conduct of Shakyamuni Buddha, Venerable Śāriputra, Moggallāna, a Holy Lady in the Kṣitigarbha Sutra, and other Boddhivattas. As a Buddhist disciple, "the filial piety is the basic virtue" is first and foremost. We are in tears of tears contemplating the deep and large favors of all the parents and ancestors who gave birth as well as food us as human beings in a society.
Expressing our filial piety, we not only serve, lend a helping hand, bathe, but also take care of our parents and grandparents’ spiritual needs towards taking refuge in the Three Jewels and practicing goodness to be happy forever in this and the next life.
Today is the opening ceremony to fasten in hell
We promise to follow the virtue of Venerable Moggallāna
Monks and nuns pray for parents
to be freed from sins in hell.
On the occasion of Vu Lan season, nuns and Editor of Hương Sen Newsletter wish all Vietnamese people who are living abroad an enjoyfull day of happiness and Dharma in endless filial piety.
Namo the Most Filial Piety Moggallāna Mahatat.
